Non-functional ontology requirements specifications: Islamic Banking domain

Abstract

The development of ontologies needs to meet not only the functional requirements of the ontology, but also their non-functional requirements. For ontologies, the non-functional requirements are the general requirements that the ontology should fulfil; referring to the criteria, qualities and general aspects that the ontology should satisfy. They need to be elicited during the problem exploration stage which gathers the characteristics and development criteria of the ontology. The elicited non-functional requirements need to be formally documented in the Ontology Requirement Specifications Document. Some of the non-functional requirements could be tested, while others would suffice with documented elaborations of fulfilment.
